Pitch&Catch
Designed to discover and foster talented female filmmakers, Pitch & Catch consists of two parts; ¡®Feature Film Pitch & Catch¡¯ supports the planning and development of feature films, and ¡®Documentary Pitch & Catch¡¯ supports the production of documentary films. Pitch & Catch is the most successful program of its kind, having produced results that are unmatched by any other open pitching program. Over the past four years, feature films Two Wedding and a Funeral, Miss Conspirator, Grape Candy, and The Ethics of Anger as well as documentaries Wandering Stars, 2 Lines, Nora Noh, The Empire of Shame and My Father¡¯s Emails have been released in theaters. The 16th IWFFIS will screen the world premiere of Visual Applause, the winner of the Ock Rang Award and the Audience Award in 2013. Three feature films that participated in Pitch & Catch in the past, The Cat Funeral, Coinlocker Girl, and You Belong Here either recently finished filming or are in pre-production. Through the open call last March, proposals for 51 feature films and 22 documentaries were submitted. Of these, 6 feature films and 5 documentaries were selected after a vigorous preliminary evaluation. During the Pitch & Catch LAB program, this year¡¯s finalists will receive training and advice on how to develop and pitch their projects, and they will be given opportunities to meet film industry professionals at open pitching events throughout the festival.
