SYNOPSIS

I picked up trash, put it on 16mm film, and exposed a ray of light. Turning on the projector switch, the trash shadows danced. I threw away my deeply scarred memory. Nevertheless, I collected the memory pieces again and animated the shadow. Maybe trash is something that is no longer interesting.

PROGRAM NOTE

The trash is picked up from a decayed redevelopment area. When the trash is placed on top of a film and exposed to light, it creates a shadow. As ¡°I¡± try to recall the memories imprinted on my body but erased from my brain, I decide to create a story. Engraved is a negative film of memory and a configuration of fragments collected from the wreckage. Like Émile Cohl¡¯s Fantasmagorie (1908) or Moholy-Nagy¡¯s Fotogramm, the film contains much unsettling energy in the strange potential of objects and the wonder of movement. The scars of the shadows that live embracing negativity rather than facing wounds that cannot be recreated. [SONG Hyojoung]
