SYNOPSIS
A portrait of Sudesha, a village activist in the Chipko Forest Conservation Movement in the foothills of the Himalayas.
PROGRAM NOTE
As Women See It portrays a village where rural villagers launch the Chipko Forest Conservation Movement to save their forest. One of the village women, Sudesha, is imprisoned for the protest. Women spend their time protecting their village where there are almost no adult men. The forest is disappearing, and they have to walk farther to get there. They walk all day long to get necessities from the forest. Although their husbands go to make money and don’t come back, the women still walk diligently today. [Nandule, HAEPARI]

Yugantar, India’s first feminist film collective, was founded by Deepa Dhanraj, Abha Bhaiya, Navroze Contractor, and Meera Rao.
