SYNOPSIS

Once the option of marriage is removed from a woman's life, people suddenly see her future as bleak and miserable. Many stands firm with the old beliefs that a woman must be defined either as a "wife" or a "mother." However, many women these days break free from the existing traditions and take flight in their own world. This documentary tells the stories of women on the path of singledom.

PROGRAM NOTE

The Wind from Nowhere is a beautiful and rich story about the ¡°choices¡± of people who do not conventionally accept and conform to their way of life or attitude, and the results of their lives. Beyond the language of anger and fighting against what oppresses us, it is also a record of the daily landscapes and the strengthening muscles of the mind.

The protagonists who choose to live a single life share the questions and reflections they have acquired in the process of choosing a way of life under different motives and situations. And, through the experiences of survival and caring, the life of singledom is one of the options for how and with whom to live, and it is a way of life that can be maintained only if it is based on relationships and solidarity. The Wind from Nowhere goes beyond prejudice and hatred of unmarried people, and continues to ask delicate and in-depth questions about what unmarried life is and the various choices and contents that exist in it. Reflections on how to relate to everyday attitudes acquired in the process of choosing singledom shine. It shines through the fears and hesitations that the protagonists face when choosing a life (temporarily or permanently) outside of the marriage system and heterosexual-oriented romantic relationships, and the experiences they have faced with the worries of those around them. This is a film that goes beyond political choices or positions and asks ¡°who and how will we live together.¡± [LEE Sukgyung]
