SYNOPSIS

Synopsis
Erika has it all: a good job, lots of friends and a secure relationship. Until the day it all falls apart. Suddenly this perfect life means nothing, and the feelings she once was able to control are no longer within reach. She starts going to group therapy and meets other people with different kinds of traumas. One day a question is raised within the group: What if we could wake up one day as someone different? The group decides to head for a place of complete anonymity. They start checking into hotels.

Program Note
The young woman called Erica who has many friends and has a good career as an interior designer is prepared to give a birth to her first child. She has planned the location the date in advance, and even appointed her Caesarean operation. However, one night her perfect life collapses by a sudden tremendous pain. Since her child is premature because of the premature labor, Erica feels hopeless and confused about how her life did not run as she intended. Then she begins a group counseling treatment. At her first session, she is uncomfortable to be there with strangers and doesn¡¯t want to reveal her inner feelings. Even other people in the treatment are unfamiliar with each other, and are uncomfortable when they actually have to blow off their steams together. Due to that situation the pain never reduced but increased. What if the place to relieve their anxiety is the hotel? In a hotel they can change the room if they want, and the view and mood would be different. Therefore, Erica and her group go to the hotel. Hotell makes the audience see others and then reflect on themselves in order to reveal the persons who attempt to change, leave, share and throw away to free themselves from the pressures of being a certain person and a certain position in society. In Hotell, the physical migration becomes the first step of getting out of the psychological pressure. The process of self-liberation, which is initiated by Erica and her peers, starts from the desperation to overcome the pain; however, the process also becomes a joyful and amusing scene. Erica and her fellows stumble into a loud, funny and beautiful commotion at the hotel. Just until they can get the courage and energy to walk away from the hotel. [LEE Angela]
