Ostracized at school, a lonely boy brings glue to the school bullies in their hideout. After sniffing glue, he hallucinates about his father who committed suicide and a dinosaur from a picture book he read when he was little. Just at that moment, a man who is going to move into a high-rise apartment catches him in the wrongdoing.
The boy¡¯s life is a series of pain. After being bullied at school, the boy spends his after school hours selling jeans that the bullies forced him
to sell. One day, he goes up the roof top of a newly constructed, empty apartment building, with glue he bought for the bullies. There, he
encounters what he so desperately has been wishing to meet. STAR is a like a poem that depicts the Korean society in which the social safety
net has completely collapsed due to the rampant neo-liberal capitalism. If one of the purposes of IWFFIS is to discover amazing and talented
female directors, then no other film better meets the objective than STAR. [Jay SOHN]
