SYNOPSIS

After her husband¡¯s death, Martha becomes a grieving loner. With encouragement from friends on her exceptional sewing skills, Martha prepares to open her own lingerie shop. However stubborn and conservative small town people, including her own clergyman son, do not welcome the lingerie shop and try to dissuade Martha. When tensions between people and Martha get higher, Martha¡¯s friends leave their patriarchal households and gather at Martha¡¯s in unity. Late Bloomers is a comedy on the gender war set in a small town in Switzerland. Martha and her friends¡¯passion for opening a lingerie shop against conservative, patriarchal minds clearly shows individual independence and self-respect are a natural desire for human beings regardless of age or gender. This comedy utters its social message in a less offensive, antagonistic, yet smart and sharp way. (KIM Sunah)
