On a Full Moon is a beautiful animation film which describes the internal journey of a woman who experiences her mother’s death and the birth of her first baby. Based on the artist’s own experience, this film vividly shows life changes beautifully and passionately with pastel and pencils. Both mothers and daughters can sympathize deeply with the experiences depicted in the film. Laura is too busy performing her domestic duties as a mother to properly mourn her own mother’s death. Meeting Jane, an old girlfriend of her brother’s, makes Laura remember her youth. With these memories come those of her mother, and she feels sad and empty. But with the help of her young daughter’s love, she overcomes her grief. The director shows her mother’s life and time passing through the images of a flowing river and a small ship.
