SYNOPSIS

After her husband passes away, the only person Gyeong-ah relies on is her daughter, Yeon-su, but she has barely met her since she moved out. After Yeon-su's surprise visit, she gets an anonymous message: a video of Yeon-su having sex with an unknown man. Gyeong-ah goes into trauma.

PROGRAM NOTE

A story about a daughter, Yeon-su, whose daily life is shaken in an instant due to the distribution of a sex video by her ex-lover and a story about her mother, Gyeong-ah, who is in a love-hate relationship with Yeon-su. An excellent study of Korea¡¯s bizarre mother-daughter relationships that are based on affection, a sense of original sin, and the desire for control, stands out. What makes this film a step forward from previous films that feature victims of sex crimes is that it portrays Yeon-su¡¯s identity as a woman struggling to regain her life rather than a woman in despair. It is a film that proves that it is possible to create a story without directly reproducing unnecessary scenes of sexual intercourse, giving a narrative to the perpetrator, or exposing the victim¡¯s pain in a provocative manner. In particular, Ha Yoon-kyung¡¯s acting, which does not follow the victimization of the character, is impressive. [Kim AkA, Cinefemme]
