SYNOPSIS

Hera makes a living by selling cosmetics to different prayer groups. By chance, So-yeon, a stranger, helps Hera out of a sticky situation, and to thank her, Hera suggests a part-time job at the prayer group meeting that she attends on Wednesdays. Out of curiosity, So-yeon takes the job, in which she is to assist Hera accommodate a group of women playing Hwatu, Korean style flower card games, after their prayer meetings.

PROGRAM NOTE

 HERA, who roams from prayer group to prayer group
 to do a cosmestics door-to-door sale, offers So-yeon,
 who helped HERA avert a crisis, a part-time job at the
 Wednesday prayer group. This Wednesday prayer
 group, besides the prayer sessions that are filled
 with the holy spirits, is a time for middle-aged women
 to come together, play hwatu, and socialize with
 each other. So-yeon happens to play very well, and
 soon becomes addicted to gambling with no point
 of return. Wednesday Prayer Group is an excellent
 film with a tightly plotted scenario, skillful filmmaking,
 and the perfect, brilliant harmony among the actors.
