SYNOPSIS

So-yeon, first year into middle school, spends all her lesson money behind her mother¡¯s back to buy a guitar for the ¡®guitar guy¡¯ she has a crush on. Convinced by her beloved, who is in his third year of high school, So-yeon proposes a ¡®sexual experiment in the biology classroom¡¯ to another male middle school mate.
 Lesson explores the love, sexual inquiries and confused world of an adolescent girl. The gap between So-yeon¡¯s imagination and her reality are presented with slow-paced yet witty narrative and visual touches. Her desire for love and sex in its premature state is represented by So-yeon¡¯s mistaking a guitar worth 1.5 million Won for one worth 150 thousand Won. Lesson is a short film that addresses the sexual inquiries and fantasies of a teenage girl as well as her right to decide on her own sexual inclinations. (Kwon Eun-sun)

    Born in 1975 in Seoul, Shin studied Management at the Korean Advanced Institute of Science & Technology and continued her studies at the Korean National University of Arts studying filmmaking. Her shorts include Dream (1999), In Late Spring, or Early Summer (2000), Farewell to Her (2000), The Dead Square (2000) and Lesson (2001).
