SYNOPSIS
A Jewish lesbian performing the traditional duty of a rigid religious ceremony! In addition, a Jewish lesbian couple with their adopted child!? Friends and relatives join together to celebrate a lesbian couple’s Jewish baby-naming ceremony for their daughter, Prarie. Prarie is not only their daughter’s name but also a name for lesbian solidarity across boundaries of religion, race and sexuality. It is also a name for victory and the love of a lesbian community. The movie demonstrates new genuinely communal lives. (Kim Sun-ah)

Associate Professor of Media Studies at Pitzer College, with a Ph.D. in Cinema Studies from NYU. Her works include documentaries and alternative video. Her subjects include activism and the history and representation of AIDS, feminism and gay depiction in the media. She has taught at NYU, Swarthmore and Bryn Mawr College on women and film, feminists, and women’s documentaries. She has written multiple articles on feminism and AIDS. She produced the feature film, The Watermelon Woman, as well as nearly fifteen educational documentaries on feminist issues.
