Hana, a factory worker who has just become an adult, cannot fully grasp such complicated terms such as ¡°labor union¡± or ¡°subcontract worker.¡± To her, the only thing that matters is earning enough money to support herself and her grandmother.
Hana, a factory subcontractor who supports her grandmother alone cannot participate in a contract worker's union strike. When the price of risky labor leads to sudden layoffs, a sense of devastated sadness sets in. The film's title must be a Kafkaesque metaphor for an alienated existence where even the value of solidarity has become powerless. Bug is an allegory of isolation and a harsh and realistic fantasy of an employment relationship that is ruthless to humans. The film suddenly stops at the sad fateful moment when a surplus being outside the social system gradually becomes transparent and eventually evaporates into a miserable being. A cold and heartless ending that leaves no room for mourning. [SONG Hyojoung]
