The film tells the meaning of virtually the only woman director, Ida Lupino, in the major studio era. In addition, it graphically depicts how circumstance were hard for women working as filmmakers and producers at the time. Lupino also experienced sexualizing as an actor in many films in the male-oriented Hollywood film industry, so she wanted to play the subjective role in an art form of film. Since her directorial debut film, Not Wanted (1949), she dealt with subjects like abortion and unmarried mothers in her own way, without provocative elements when these were taboo subjects not only in a film but also in society at large. Also, she presented women characters who were totally different from those in typical Hollywood movies. This documentary kindly and vividly shows her career from Never Fear (1950), which was her autobiographical story (she had polio as a teenager), to The Bigamist (1953) when she was the first female director-actor, and other TV series she produced. At the same time, it brilliantly weaves stories together and doesn¡¯t miss anything from Lupino¡¯s life, her place in cinema history, and the social background in which women were disrespected.
