SYNOPSIS

In a former mining town in North Ossetia, Ada struggles to escape the stifling hold of the family she loves as much as she rejects. She soon realizes that it will be very hard to begin her own life, and as her brother Akim returns home, the family¡¯s unspoken, unhealed traumas come to light.

PROGRAM NOTE

In 2004, the Beslan School Siege takes place, and the protagonist, Ada, moves to the industrial city of North Ossetia with her family. Due to the trauma of witnessing the horror of death, the whole family is trapped within themselves. The father controls his children and stops them from receiving any physical or psychological treatment. The boy Dakko even comes to bed and torments Ada. Ada tries to escape the prison-like family. Although the opportunity occurs when Akim, the older brother, returns home, Ada¡¯s parasitic father does not let her go.
The film shows how, when her family is cut off from society, a woman is forced to make sacrifices for the men. Women are viewed as a mere construction to sustain men¡¯s lives, and men create a fence of violence. In the end, women continue to be victims, hidden, unable to rely on anyone. [Pingu, Cinefemme]
