SYNOPSIS
The world is about to end. Maya is forced to go home to the province of Zambales. There she confronts her childhood house, which terrorizes her as frogs rain down outside.
PROGRAM NOTE
How can isolation be visualized? Maria Estela Paiso collages live-action footage, object scans, childhood photos, home videos, and computer graphic animations in It's Raining Frogs Outside. Due to the end of the world, the main character is shut off from the outside. This situation overlaps with that of Zambales fishermen who had to give up fishing in Scarborough waters due to the threat of the Chinese navy. [LEE Hayun, ma-te-ri-al]

Paiso has worked in post-production since 2016 and has edited several features and shorts. After numerous visual experiments and hip-hop music videos, she forayed into directing in 2021 with It’s Raining Frogs Outside. She spends her free time trying to get a score of 100 at karaoke.
