¡°God, please let me get into Seoul National University.¡± Late at night, praying as she studies, Ji-sook sees the cross hanging on her wall start to glow. But Ji-sook lives in a basement apartment, and her priest says the light cannot reach the sky. The Top of the Tower illustrates the contrast of secular religion, blind faith, and the desire to rise above class prejudice as Ji-sook and her family head for a tower. (Tower is pronounced top in Korean.) [Sunner Si, HAEPARI]
