SYNOPSIS

In the 1920s, Isabel, Phyllis and Paulette McDonagh were sisters, best friends and business partners. Together they were the first Australian women to form their own film company. Amazing footage from their films that has survived and been preserved, combined with interviews, archival photographs, and colorful reenactments describe a remarkable life of these women making movies more than seventy years ago.

PROGRAM NOTE

The three sisters, born in the upper-middle class of McDonagh, made films in Sydney, Australia in the 1920s and 30s. The eldest Isabel was an actress, the second Phyllis was the art director, and the third Paulette took care of the screenplays and direction. They produced melodramas such as Those Who Love (1926), The Far Paradise (1928), The Cheaters (1930) and Two Minutes Silence (1933). [HWANG Miyojo]
