experimental / diagnostic exam / code / distress
The International Code of Signals is a marital signaling system using flag signals. American poet Hannah Weiner hired US Coast Guards signalers in Central Park, New York in 1968 to transmit her work, Code Poems. Language and origin disappeared and only abstraction remained in the performance. A woman, who lost her language in front of a man who is diagnosing her, tries to transmit her signal like a ship drifting on the ocean. [HWANG Miyojo]
