animation / covid-19 / New York
An existential documentation of the first wave of the pandemic in New York.
2 Lizards is a mocumentary-styled short animation series documenting the daily lives of two (probably queer) lizards (and a cheetah, a cat, a mouse, a bear, and a Korean-speaking raccoon!) living in New York, locked down due to the coronavirus pandemic. The series was posted on Instagram in eight short episodes when the first lockdown took place in New York. The animation, which begins as a bittersweet joke, explores the emotions and social aftermath of isolation with no traces of sentimental self-pity. [HWANG Miyojo]
