Set in the near future, a bunch of rebellious kids commit crimes due to their problematic lives while others do it for sport. Special forces of drones chase them down, and Jessica struggles to protect them from the drones. Jessica and kids put on some warrior-esque costumes, which might be suited for a fantasy film, and create a rather primitive matriarchal community of their own. The film seems to draw issues from societal contradictions at first glance, but shortly changes its course to depict the psychological and emotional states of the children; they question whether they will ever be able to rid themselves of their (self-)destructive instincts. Moreover, Jessica holds a quite ambiguous position between things she can and cannot control. She seems to simultaneously subvert and conform to existing gender roles. The intensity of futuristic but primitive visual images might be quite startling for audiences. In an interview, the directors discuss how they took careful consideration regarding the language and nuanced expressions the kids use to express their incompatibility with the society, so for French-speaking audience members this will be a real highlight.
