By coincidence, Pamela B. GREEN learns about the female director Alice GUY-BLACHÉ, a pioneer that led the early development of films and who made one of the first ever narrative films. Soon GREEN wonders why such an important figure has been forgotten in film history. Her name is not even in the records of Gaumont, where she used to work. In addition, through numerous interviews GREEN discovers that so many people, including a figure like film director/historian Peter BOGDANOVICH, don’t know about Alice GUY-BLACHÉ. GREEN decides to investigate how Alice GUY-BLACHÉ became forgotten, which turns into a collective effort along with the interviewees who work in American film industry. Tracing Alice GUY-BLACHÉ with many different collaborators, GREEN documents the process through Skype, social media, and phone calls, which forms a type of social archiving film. In the midst of the bright and fast tempo, the film highlights how Alice GUY-BLACHÉ was an expert in filmmaking techniques, how well she made comedies, and how she tried to move forward with her career.
