SYNOPSIS

Based on true events, this film takes place in 1859 at a convent. Alexina, a schoolteacher there, experiences unbearable pains in her lower body. A doctor’s examination carried out after having collapsed in front of her students reveals that she is intersex, and now must leave the convent and live as a man. She must learn how to walk like a man and change her name to a more fitting, masculine name. She can only pray for her new life ahead. [KIM Kyungtae]

Fabien GORGEART directed five shorts between 2007 and 2013; each one was broadcasted on French TV channels. He participated in image education programs and he was also member of the selection board for public regional funds. His first feature movie Diane à les Espaules released at the end of 2017.
