A co-production with the internationally renowned artist and human rights activist Yvonne Bezerra de Mello, this is a documentary about the homeless children living in the street in Brazil. Yvonne fights to better the lives of these abandoned children and founded the project ‘Children of Light,’ committed to the education and protection of abandoned children on the streets of Rio. The film interacts with Yvonne and the homeless children and discusses the powers for social change. While encountering the unfamiliar, an event takes place and the puts them in face with their problems. In this Yvonne and the street children, Yvonne and the director, the street children and the film meet. To break through these problems, one must have a long-term vision and endure the process, because in order to change society, you are required to fight against deeply rooted beliefs and change them. The last part of this process is for those who are alienated to love themselves and grow their own strength to find empowerment. Yvonne notes that the artist has a responsibility to address social issues. The film also discusses the similarity between a rock and the homeless children – while you might not know what they’ll end up as, they all have their own inner value and content. Yvonne talks about art and social activism from the same perspective; that is, she is a woman who lives consistently with the manifestation of that inner subject.
