SYNOPSIS
Jin-hwa, in between jobs, has two boyfriends: a Korean on who works abroad, and Sam, an American who she finds least attractive, but needs to keep in relationship with for practicing English. A newly wedded wife from Vietnam hangs around Jin-hwa who has an important job interview ahead. This newlywed wife somehow wants to get along with Jin-hwa.
PROGRAM NOTE
On the one hand, there are the Korean twenty-somethings, who build their resume and either go overseas or date foreigners to perfect their English, and on the other hand, there are foreigners who come to Korea in hopes for employment or marriage. Through the story of a Korean woman who is looking for jobs and a Vietnamese woman who has come to Korea because of marriage, Jinhwa in Globalization reflects on Korea as an ‘in-between space’ in this globalized age, and attempt to make a breakthrough in this space by depicting the compassion and solidarity between the two women.
