SYNOPSIS
A documentary on the performance of an urban regeneration project on Garibon-dong area, the project of Room Sharing of Myeongja and Yeongja. This site-specific art is an interesting mixture of fiction, documentary, and dance performance. A dramatization of the female workers who was praised to be the pillar of industry is worked out with the dance performance in G Valley which was called as Guro Industrial Complex.
PROGRAM NOTE
It is a fascinating film with a unique style blending fiction, documentary, city tour, and dance performance. In the Guro Industrial Complex renamed as G Valley now, there used to be the “Statue of Export” – a symbol of women workers as the mainstay of our exports. As a business center was being constructed, this statue of a woman worker holding a torch and a skein of thread was removed from its original place to the flower garden. It was eventually restored in 2014. This film invites the audience to travel back in time, following the stories of the real-life model for the “Statue of Export” that underwent so many challenges along with urban development, changing industrial topography, and regime changes. Born 1974 in Seoul. Kim Sun-min graduated from the Film Department at Seoul Institute of the Arts, and from Korean Academy of Film Arts. She has shown her constant interests in minorities and people on the margin, and those interests were shaped into short films, and exhibition films. Her directorial works include One Korea (2001), Looking Back (2001), Dream of Snail (2003), After Love (2004), Garivegas (2005), Looking for the Statue of Export (2015), etc. While in preproduction for a film on laborers in Garibong-dong area, she passed away from cancer on April 18, 2017

He received his BFA in psychology from Chung-ang University and MFA in film from the Graduate school of Communication and Arts in Yonsei University. He continues to produce experimental films that are based on research and study of moving images. He made films, including Frequency Resonance, Willow Flower, i-image, and Cyclical Night, and is also working on installation art within exhibition spaces.
