SYNOPSIS

A group of television writers try so hard to be politically correct, it impedes their writing process. Politically Correct takes aims at stereotypes and hegemonic norms present in film and television writing.

The film begins and ends at a television
writing room table, where a script planning meeting is held. The meeting is
held by writers who come from different racial backgrounds and sexual
orientations. The meeting starts out with the discussion of what kind of person
the female protagonist will choose as a lover. However, it is quickly made
obvious that refraining from resorting to stereotypes and finding a
¡®politically correct¡¯ character that satisfies all individuals across races and
sexual identities is not an easy task. All the relationships, including dating
relationships, that the female protagonist involves herself in within the
scenario is considered to be not ¡°politically correct.¡± This is a black comedy
that showcases a candid and intense criticism of proponents of political
correctness who gnaw away at the creativity and originality with their verbal
attacks, antagonism, and picking at words. [Sunah KIM]
