Growth/Independence Friendship Comedy
SYNOPSIS
Ely and Lila are as close as sisters. They have known each other since childhood - they share everything and dream of a different life together. They live in the same suburb, ten minutes by metro from Paris. Today, Ely and Lila no longer want to be ten minutes from their lives. From minor muddles to major lies, they will do everything in their power to try to enter this world that isn\'t theirs where everything seems possible. But they soon realize that all that glitters is not gold....
PROGRAM NOTE
Back when it was released in France, the film
surprised everyone in the film industry, becoming an
unexpected box office hit. A chick flick that involves
the working-class girls of the outskirts of Paris, All That
Glitters maintains a bright and comical tone with quick
film editing and transitions but sends a heavy, serious
message. Having grown up together since they were
young, Ely and Lila are two best friends. As shoppingmall
employees, they are not well-off, but have a nice
and easygoing family and funny and warm-hearted
neighbors. Nonetheless, both Ely and Lila do not
want to stay in this current situation. Then by chance,
happens to Paris\' elite upper-class photographer
Agathe and model Joan, and is given the opportunity
to climb up the social ladder. Ely and Lila begin eating
with them at expensive restaurants and hanging
out with the trendy people in exclusive clubs and
are excited by the feeling that they have become a
part of the elite social circle. Ely goes in and out of
Agathe and Joan\'s fancy, luxurious apartments while
babysitting their son and Lila meets a posh and rich
boyfriend at the club. However, these elite \'friends\' of
theirs were not as open-minded as they were carefree.
While Ely and Lila considered them to be their friends,
Agathe, Joan, and everyone else in the elite world
viewed Ely and Lila either as servants who they can
call whenever they need to or as accessories that
are fun and new for now but can be thrown away any
minute. Furthermore, their difficult, arduous attempts
to enter the upper-class puts a strain on Ely and Lila\'s
friendship. Will they eventually come to realize that all
that glitters is not gold? [CHO HyeYoung]
