Synopsis

 While her mother is away from home, 12-year-old Adar’s role-playing games with her stepfather move into dangerous territory. Seeking an escape, Adar finds Alan - an ethereal boy who joins her on a dark journey between reality and fantasy.

Program Note

 Princess is one of the most complicated and problematic films in the 17th SIWFF. So, I am very curious about how the audience would respond to this film. Adar, a 12 year- old girl lives with her stepfather, who is a teacher. She is the only child and wants her mother\'s attention. Unfortunately her mother just cares about her second husband. Adar\'s biological father is too cold to open her heart. Hence, Adar often tries to come between her mother and her stepfather to make her presence. Her attempts to fill the lack of affection from her mother, however, strangely turn into the erotic relations with her stepfather. In the meantime, she meets Alan wandering the street instead of going to school. As Alan, a boy of her age similar to her appearance, visits her house, a new fantasy begins. This film well depicts a teen girl\'s fantasy about sexual relationship going beyond the boundaries of sex and taboos. The erotic relations between main characters, namely Adar, her mother, her stepfather and Alan, completely go against the existing representations of child sexual abuse and incest. [Sunah KIM]
