Synopsis
Things Change is a short film carrying the director¡¯s fierce comments on what has been running through her mind. By having a fleeting glimpse into the other side of the world, the film reveals what has been changed in the way we perceive the world.
Program Note
The word \'change\' conveys an adventurous meaning, but on the other hand, the word sometimes gives individuals some loss, agony, or regression since \'change\' presumes separation from the familiar past. Things Change portrays how the director, who travelled around world with a camera and enjoyed adventurous life, becomes a mother, denies the fact that her child has become the center of her world, and finally accepts the grave change in her life. As the calm tone gradually becomes a scream, the director\'s narration helps the audience guess the long, repeated agony she experienced until she embraces the change. Also, her scream denies the schematic evaluation that her choice is only a result of defeatist compromise between ideal and motherhood. The director lost her past self, but she is now standing in front of a new path. Again, the adventure begins. [LEE Jeeheng]
