Synopsis
Synopsis Warde, shamed as a young girl yet renowned in Palestine for her mystical seeing and matchmaking lives with her sister Jaleleh and reads the fortunes of her clients. Each woman has made or will make a choice between love and marriage, not having had the luxury of both.
Program Note
This film shows the life of women in modern Palestine and their anxiety for love, marriage, and future. Over 40 years ago, Warde was deserted by her husband after being shamed by a white sheet the morning after her wedding day, and now she lives with her younger sister as a cup reader. Warde\'s customers come to her and ask about issues they have, such as whom they would marry or whether they have to go with the pending marriage. Touching the issues of love and marriage in a light, comic air, but the audience cannot miss the grave reality faced by women in the Middle Eastern culture. [LEE Jeeheng]
