Synopsis
Having one more semester to go before graduation,Hee-won decides to take some time off from school and do an internship in Australia to add one more line to her resume. After leading a fancy and sophisticated life in the city only for a while, to deal with high cost of living, she forces herself to get a part-time job and gets a chance to meet a number of Korean participants in the Working Holiday program. While wondering if she should go back or not, she¡¯s been told she could work and travel with farm jobs that will let her make big money and enjoy Mother Nature of Australia.
Program Note
Those who go on working holidays leave Korea for various reasons. Some hope to improve their English or job prospects. Some just want to enjoy a holiday abroad, and gain some cultural experiences. Others set off to find themselves and escape from reality. With just one more semester left to go before graduation, Hee-won too decides to go for an internship in Australia in order to add a line on her resume. Once there, the days of leading a fancy and sophisticated life in the city of Sydney do not last long. To cope with the high cost of living, she moves into an illegally converted shared flat and gets a job at a sushi restaurant, where she meets a number of Korean participants in the Working Holiday program. With the termination of her internship fast approaching, Hee-won wonders whether she should return to Korea. She then finds out about farm work that would allow her to make big money while enjoying beautiful nature. Jong-dae and Jong-hyun, cleaners from Canberra, and Hee-won, a waitress from Sydney, come together to form a team and embark upon a dream journey in the outback. They have ambitious plans to begin with but the situation turns out to be a lot more difficult than they expected. Every day they face labor and moments of panic and confusion. They go back and forth between regretfully questioning just what they are doing in a land so far away from home and feeling thankful that they are here after all and vowing to work less hard. They each pursue different plans and dreams but all naturally realize that the Working Holiday cannot be a perfect turning point. Nonetheless, this tough journey, or the Holy Working Day, provides them all with a change and proves to be a foundation for when they resume their original routine, something that plays a crucial role in directing the course of their life.
