Program Note

Setsuko is a 55-year-old single ¡®office woman¡¯ living in Tokyo. One day, she joins an English class on an impulse, where her young, unconventional English instructor gives her a blonde wig and names her ¡®Lucy.¡¯ gradually opens her eyes to desires that she never knew before. However, her dream of a new life with a new name and her departure from the boring office life in which she only could only look forward to the day of her retirement all come to a sudden halt. As she meets and parts with two newcomers in her life, her previously expressionless face flows with emotions. This masterpiece effectively condenses into a well-knit drama the sense of isolation and solitude of a middle-aged office woman. [KANG Ba-da]
