Synopsis
There is an apple farming family who lives at the foot of Mt. Iwaki. A few days before Rinko’s 15th birthday, Tamao (the father), brought a “horse with a ribbon” as a birthday present. Tamao’s customary selfish behavior adds up to the already heavy burdened Mayumi. A long time after Rinko ran away from home, she came back begging for money.

Program Note
Following the introduction of YOKOHAMA Satoko’s short films at the same section last year, this year she presents her latest film featuring her original energetic female character, strong images, and narrative development that exceeds the audience’s expectations. In terms of delivering a message of regeneration, the film could be categorized as a so-called post 3.11 film, but it differentiates itself by attempting to find a different methodology in which people are neither united through a natural disaster nor loaded with hope. In other words, this film emphasizes individuality that is distinguished by locality, gender, generation, and language, but, in order to escape from the trap of egocentric introversion, it doesn’t block off such relationships that could be seen as restraints or bonds.
