Synopsis
As a young girl, Fawzia Mirza fell under the spell of Bollywood heroines and their promise of love and feminine perfection. As an adult, she looks back and reimagines the epic romance in the classic film Aradhana, in a new light.

When she was a little girl, director Fawzia MIRZA dreamed of becoming legendary bollywood actress Sharmila TAGORE. With her long, jetblack hair, Sharmila was a goddess who dazzled everyone when she sang like a bird. As a grown up, Fawzia looks back on her childhood and monopolizes the narrative romance of classic bollywood film Aradhana as the narrative of homosexuality. Based on the director’s own experience as a queer Muslim woman from India who grew up watching bollywood films, The Queen of My Dreams blends popular cinema, drag and queer culture to create an interesting narrative.
