Sao SOPHEAK
The short documentary Two Girls against the Rain by female Cambodian filmmaker Sao SOPHEAK is the first locally produced documentary which gives a voice to members of the lesbian community. It is a true story about two women struggling hard for their love.
Two Girls against the Rain is a documentary about the enduring love between a Cambodia lesbian couple in their fifties. Soth YUN and Sem EANG met during the genocidal Khmer Rouge regime, where more than two million people died. Their struggle against stigmatization by fellow villagers and their family, and their lifelong commitment to each other through thick and thin, are truly touching. [HONG So-in]

Sao SOPHEAKSao SOPHEAK
Born in 1979, in Cambodia. Sao SOPHEAK holds a degree in Business Management from Singapore University Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Since 2009 she is enrolled in the M.E.T.A. Film School, supported by the Goethe Institute. She has also attended film workshops in Mumbai, Manila and Jakarta. She has participated in various film productions as well as directed and produced her own four documentaries.
