Synopsis
 Suburban mother and devout Catholic Eileen has been nominated as the Catholic Woman of the Year at her local parish. However, her final test is introducing her family to the board for the seal of approval. She must finally face the nonconformist family she has been glossing over for years. Her gay daughter, Shannon, a successful lawyer, is about to marry her life partner Angela. Her unhappily married son, Frank Jr, is cheating on his wife with the local manicurist.

 Program Note
 Eileen is nominated as ‘Catholic Woman of the Year’. She, for whom faithfully leading a religious life and taking care of her family are the primary goals in her life, does her best to become ‘Catholic Woman of the Year’. Contrary to her wishes, her son prepares for a divorce, her daughter is a lesbian, and her husband leaves home, drained by her obstinacy. She is gradually drifting away from the ideal of ‘Catholic Woman of the Year’, whose family must be religiously perfect as well. Eileen feels a deep sense of loss, watching her entire family members, whom she held onto with strong faith through all sorts of hardship, leaving the grasp of her control. The ‘Happy ending’ that the director chose among the conventional happy endings of family dramas is neither stable nor dangerous. As an audience, following the progression towards that happy ending is very entertaining. Not only that, it is entertaining to watch Richard CHAMBERLINE, who played the role of a priest, the main character, in The Thorn Birds, a hit television mini-series in U.S. in 1980’s, wearing clerical clothing once again; Kathleen TURNER, who was the main character in Body Heat, playing the role of a devoted mother and a conservative Catholic; and Emily DESCHANEL, who played the cool scientist in the Bones series, appearing in the role of the lesbian daughter who clashes with her mother.
