Synopsis 

S.O.S- Adoptive Dissensus is a record of the performance that makes use of the Han River cruise ship and turns the spotlight on resistance against memories fading because of speed as well as the relationship between humans and nature within the city. The cruise ship points floodlights on the performance by the banks of the Han River, making Seoul a kind of massive stage and turning it into a space that questions the glances of others. 

 Program Note 

S.O.S-Adoptive Dissensus is director LIM Minouk’s special place project on the record of performances on a cruise ship along the Han River. The cruise ship departs from Yeouido dock with tourists on the ship and gives light show performance. The cruise ship stops at three different places such as north of Jamsoo Bridge fishing holes, Nodul Island and Juldoo Mountain shrine next to Yanghwa Bridge and watches different performances from three different places. The cruise guidance in captain’s voice states that Han River was and still is the center of continuing developments throughout the Korean Industrial history.
 The performances at the three places are carefully and delicately organized to criticize the government’s surveillance on the weak people who stand against developmentalist and authority who does not allows ’unnamed places’ or ’dark areas’ of the city. The film talks about current Seoul City’s spectacles in a chronological manner from the past to the future while the linguistic articulation is pleasant to hear. Sometimes the words are direct and intentional but arranged carefully so it helps to understand the reasons over simple playful pleasures. (KWON Eun-sun)
