Synopsis
 Ayla, a young Turkish-German woman, is beautiful, self-confident and at odds with her conservative family, who disapprove of her ‘Western’ life style. She falls in love with Ayhan, but doesn‘t suspect his involvement in a murderous plan to restore his family‘s honor: his sister Hatice has left her unloved husband in Turkey and is raising her daughter alone in Germany.

 Program Note
 The Islamic culture enforces woman to obey to two shackles; the Islamic law and patriarchy. No excuses are allowed and when those rules are violated, the most extreme form of punishment a woman can faces is the cruel ’honor killing’. The Muslim emigrants are also obliged to obey to this tradition regardless where they are, which has caused a lot of controversies. Ayla brings this issue on the screen and talks about Turkish German women who are living a ’western’ lifestyle yet still suffers the oppression of Islamic convention.
 A young, beautiful and self-confident Ayla is working as a kindergarten teacher during the day and a club manager at night. But her life is always at stake since her father wants her to live as a faithful Islamic woman. Ayhan, a Turkish man, is attracted to her and they fall in love soon. One day, she meets Hatice who ran away from her husband in Turkey and came to Germany where her family lives. Her family, however, disapproves her and threatens to punish her. In order to help Hatice flee, Ayla visits Hatice’s apartment but the person she finds there is Ayhan.
 The Islamic law does not regard woman as an independent personality with rights to her own body. It considers woman as an asset of her family. Ayla opposes to this and tries to stand free by practicing Karate and putting different make-ups every day. She refuses to live as a ’fragile and obedient’ Islam woman and chooses to live a ’different’ life by being responsible for her life herself alone. She decides to be a ’cat woman’ for Hatice.
