KIM Ye-young, KIM Young-geun
Synopsis
Seoul is full of skyscrapers and asphalt pavement amid polluted air and noise. But what it is essentially comprised of is people. Imagine the city without walls and roofs, free from its shell. This film looks into Seoul as its numerous walls removed and thus is able to breathe and feel the warmth.
Program Note
This is KIM Ye-young and KIM Young-geun¡®s new film who directed a critically acclaimed film A Walk. The high-rise buildings, gray asphalt, black smoke and street noise surrounds Seoul City but people are the ones who make up the city. The two directors try to discover people and the city layer-by-layer in order to show pure state of selves. The harmony of sounds of different people sleeping, brushing their teeth, sounds of walking and others are mixed and mashed together. The minimal and abstract description of the basic elements of the city, that we have lived but forgotten, delivers the essence of everyday life. (CHO Hye-young)
