SYNOPSIS

Dead dogs everyday at grandma¡¯s house. Why? The director gets curious but no one else in the family does. Maybe this is the same with grandma¡¯s life. So the director starts to listen to grandma¡¯s story. This documentary follows the mystery of dead dogs from the point of grandmother¡¯s life, destiny, and history.

Searching for Dead Dogs is a documentary film that has a narrative of the mystery genre and begins with a very intriguing question, ¡¯All of the dogs my grandmother raises at her place die. Why?¡¯ It¡¯s a question that nobody is curious about and also that no one can answer. In search of the answer to the question, the attention is soon turned towards grandmother¡¯s life. The director, like a private detective solving a mystery, throws questions at miserable creatures that are hidden and marginalized, that is to say, women and their history just like how she casts some doubt on the death of the dogs. Why has the history of illtreatments toward women been repeated for such a long time? How can women be heard and assume a greater historic importance in the world dominated by men? However, since they make a detour around a fantasy space with cute presentations such as stop-motion technique, animated images and above all the director¡¯s narration, those heavy, serious questions are presented on a lighter note.
