Synopsis
If 3D screen can be defined as a cutting-edge hypnosis that maneuvers our beliefs in the real existence, Copy City can be defined as a film that makes us doubt the real existence, which inflows from the outside world, by giving us a pleasant perceptual test for our beliefs.
Program Note
Today, copying is a common technology: it has even blurred the border between the world of originals (often referred to as real existence) and the world of lifeless copies. This short film fills the screen with various images of copies in everyday lives and whimsically reveals the materialistic essence of them, in a way that reminds us of the conceptual art of Joseph Kosuth. If 3D screen can be defined as a cutting-edge hypnosis that maneuvers our beliefs in the real existence, Copy City can be defined as a film that makes us doubt the real existence, which inflows from the outside world, by giving us a pleasant perceptual test for our beliefs.
