Synopsis
Hebron. The night of the Jewish settlement Masquerade. 15-year-old Samer insists on taking his older sister Ayat to collect her diploma from the Palestinian university. Threading their way between rooftops and narrow side allies, they must avoid the settlers, the army and the curious foreign news reporters.
Program Note
One night, a festival for Jewish settlers goes on in Hebron. A sister insists that she will go to the college graduation ceremony and receive the diploma for herself. Her younger brother decides to accompany her even though their mother opposes. Will the Palestinian sister and brother be able to avoid the eyes of soldiers and attend the ceremony? This film impressively describes the tense situation in a territory full of conflicts, without being biased with emotion of any side, through an episode of a young sister and brother as they try to sneak into a college. This film received an award in the Cinéfondation in 2009 Cannes. (PARK Mi-young)
