Synopsis
Lea grows up in a home in which she is given no protection. From being a cheerful, curious little girl, Lea sees her life brutally change when her mother returns to her ex-husband Ole. Lea turns to inebriation in order to cope with everyday life in her family. She wants to make a clean break with her family and start a new life. She wants to take care of her child, provide her with the protection she herself was deprived of. But Lea soon realizes she is lacking this ability, and consequently has to make an impossible decision.
Program Note
A low class woman Lea is entrapped in the chain of alcohols, drugs, and sex trades. Would she be able to hear the sound of angel? She sent her daughter Sonja to an ordinary middle class family for adoption, but cannot even hold herself up from the effects of drugs when she visits her daughter from time to time. Lea¡¯s mother does nothing but watches her beside, and her incapable candid husband only spoils her with drugs and sex trades leaving all the responsibilities to her.
This film reveals Lea¡¯s past through the hopeless face of her and drug-wounded skin of her body. The more her past gets disclosed, the more obvious it gets that her mother lies in her trauma. Lea escaped from her foster father, who brought her and her mother misfortune with violence, and found a ¡®shelter¡¯ for them. But being terribly indecisive, her mother chose her sexual desire rather than her maternity. All these experiences from the childhood made her incapable of protecting herself. The new work of Margreth OLIN, the most notable Norwegian director, looks through the strong and dense images to catch the ¡®circle of care¡¯ being wrapped with multiple layers. (KWON Eun-sun)

Margreth OLINMargreth OLIN
She graduated from Volda University College and the Universities of Bergen and Oslo. She made her debut as documentary film maker with her graduation film In the House of Love in 1995. In 1998, her first full feature documentary In the House of Angels premiered in Norwegian cinema theatres, and won a number of prizes. Her breakthrough came with the film My Body (2002), which won several awards nationally and internationally. Her latest film was Raw Youth
