Ties SCHENK
Synopsis
Farouzi, 12 years old, a Dutch-Arabic girl is daydreaming while she is looking outside during her work at a fishery. She doesn\'t care about the boys in the fishery, the only one that really means something to her is her donkey Soufiane, who always follows her. One day a girl comes by the fishery on a scooter. The arrival of this self-willed girl makes Farouzi jump on her donkey, leaving to search for luck.
Program Note
Farouzi works in a fishery and is bored with her everyday life. The only thing that gives meaning to her dull life is her donkey, Soufiane. One day, when Farouzi is cleaning and cutting fish like she does everyday, a girl shows up. Farouzi, ¡°Donkey Girl¡±, involuntarily follows her. Later the two girls encounter each other at the beach. Somehow they understand each other. Little by little they become closer to each other. The mysterious encounter of the two girls is portrayed with gentle yet powerful images. (Jay SOHN)

Ties SCHENKTies SCHENK
Ties Schenk graduated in 2005 from the Dutch Film and Television Academy with the project Docklands, a children¡¯s series for which they develop two pilot episodes. At the Cinekid Film Festival 2006 Ties wins two prestigious prizes with this project: The Cinekid Kinderkast jury prize and the Golden Cinekid Kinderkast. In October 2007, Ties wins the Golden Cinekid Kinderkast again with her short film Donkeygirl. Her work tells us modern temporary stories about human individual and private desires. Mostly suppressed by anxiety and shame these emotions are set within the Dutch cultural society of today.
