Synopsis
 This documentary portrays the daily lives of the Carino-family \"living apart together\" in London, The Hague and Manila. The main character is Emma who lives in London where she works as a domestic/nanny. She is one of the Philippine mothers that are working in Europe, while their husbands or local nannies are taking care of their own children.

 Since she is divorced from her husband, Emma is responsible for her family. She goes to England to find a better job, leaving, in their Philippines hometown, her 7-year-old boy, Tsino, and her daughter, Hannah, who is just about to enter a college. The only thing that connects them is a phone, but it is nothing more than an intermediate through which their relationships get estranged. Emma believes love is proved by the act and not by the words, and works in London as a babysitter to provide a better education for her children. However, this leads to the irony of hiring another babysitter for her own children; as a result, the relationship between the English employer and Emma is repeated between Emma and the Philippine babysitter. Emma’s life as an immigrant laborer was inherited from her mother, and it could be passed onto Hannah again. But Emma’s belief that she has better opportunities abroad than in the Philippines is no less weakened by these circumstances. Immigrant workers are constantly confronted with numerous threats such as prejudice and distrust by their employers. So too are they confronted by difficulties of adapting to a different culture, and by terrible worries over their families. The director Marije Meerman, who has constantly made the works about globalization and its effects on people’s daily lives, suggests us through this film to listen to the voices of the families left behind in their hometowns, as well as those of the immigrant female worker.
