Program Note
A mother and her daughter-in-law prepare food together but they are not at all happy with each other. They are both nameless but called, ¡®Moondy¡¯. The mother repeatedly scolds her daughter-in-law for her lack of experience. There is a language barrier: the mother can¡¯t speak English and the daughter-in-law can¡¯t speak Korean. The day is horrible. As she is being scolded, the daughter-in-law escapes by looking at a painting of her husband on the wall. But love has a way of smoothing over differences. Whether the differences concern dialect, sacrifice for ancestors, or woman migrant, the camera captures the two women who address each other by the name, ¡®Moondy.¡¯ (PARK Seojin)
