Program Note
A yellow bird is locked in a cage. Looking at the bird, Mom has sad eyes. However, in the next scene, it is not the bird but Mom who is locked in. Mom wanted to fly away like a yellow bird, but could not leave. Daughter, now a mother herself, remembers and understands her Mom in those days looking at a yellow bird in front of her. How many women have been shackled by the weight of the name, ¡®Mother¡¯? This film shows us that weight through beautiful black-and-white animation. (Jay SHON)
