SYNOPSIS

Sayeh and Yousef love each other but are in the crisis of a divorce because of cultural problems. Sayeh goes to see a lawyer about a divorce but by chance enters the wrong office, one of a family-trouble counselor. The old unequal differences between woman and man, which happen in marriage and divorce, have already become an inseparable convention of life to this day and now would be difficult to change back to equal. Cease Fire, Tahmineh Milani\'s latest film, is unexceptionally emphasizes women\'s view, as well as the dramatization of everyday life with serene camera work. Director Tahmineh Milani is one of the new wave Iranian directors of 1980¡¯s and had her own \"Tahmineh Milani special section\" in the 4th Women\'s Film Festival in Seoul. Cease Fire is conspicuous in a less sentimental way of dramatic development and the focus is more on direct description than in her former melodramas. As she said, \"This film suggests why tradition disguised in the name of religion and a patriarchal hierarchical order that has infiltrated into our private lives is unfit for contemporary Iranian society and should be changed\" (KIM Sunah).
