This film suggests that curiosity is more useful in life than experience. Excessive precaution will only isolate you from the world. However, for a shabby and timid middle-aged penguin who has been through it all, there must have been a time when he was an inquisitive little lad like the young penguin. Thus the future of the naive young penguin might be his present. If he is tos resist this fate though, the young penguin must ask his elder why he has become the way he is. Unfortunately, there are few adults who can give an honest answer about the world and its problems to the younger generation. And this is exactly what makes the lives of the middle-aged even more squalid and frightening to the young.
